About Us

A Caring, Collaborative, and Safe Learning Community

Nestled in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan, East Oakview Elementary is proud to be a trusted neighborhood school serving students in Grades DK–4. Known for its strong sense of community and commitment to excellence, East Oakview provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Our comprehensive academic program is thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Core instruction is enriched through engaging experiences such as field trips, assemblies, and specialized programs in library, music, art, and physical education. These opportunities extend learning beyond the classroom and foster creativity, curiosity, and confidence.

At East Oakview, we believe education is a partnership. We actively welcome and celebrate family involvement, encouraging parents and guardians to collaborate closely with teachers and staff. Together, we create a school culture that is warm, respectful, and deeply invested in every child’s growth and well-being.

Above all, student safety is our top priority. East Oakview is committed to maintaining a secure and caring environment where children feel protected, respected, and ready to learn. From secure entry procedures and emergency preparedness to supportive social-emotional learning practices, we take thoughtful, proactive steps to ensure that every student feels safe—both physically and emotionally—each and every day.

At East Oakview Elementary, learning, safety, and community go hand in hand, creating a place where students and families truly belong.
